Page-builder represents the most transformative changes we have introduced in Engaging Networks. This guide will help you transition from building pages with our legacy tools.
In page-builder we have made many back-end changes to create a wizard approach that makes building pages fast and easy. To get your account ready to use page-builder, here are few steps to transition existing elements like templates, and to add the new multi-language capabilities.
The default locale defines the default language and location for all pages you build. Even if you intend to present your pages in one language only, you need to specify a default locale.
To do this, go to Hello > Account settings. This displays a tab labeled “Account Preferences.” Scroll down to Locales. From the drop-down list next to “Default locale,” select the language and country or region that best represents the default, or primary language and location of your organization or your supporters.
NOTE: You must have Super Admin permissions to access the Admin module.

With page-builder, the same fields in the default supporter record are available for use in forms as they are in legacy pages, but with a major improvement. page-builder will read the value lists from the default supporter record – you no longer need to create them on each form!
page-builder also allows you to create field labels and values in other languages, complete with field validators and tooltips.
Before you begin any work in page-builder, copy your default supporter record fields for use with your default locale. To do this, go to Hello > Account settings, then click on Account Data Structure. Click the “+” sign to the right of the “Supporter Fields” tab. Select the locale for which wish to create a field list, then click “Yes.”
If you intend to use multiple locales, you can create field lists for those locales following the steps above.
NOTE: If you add fields to the default supporter record in the future, they will be added to each locale.

Due to the new data structures in Page Builder, common page elements created in our legacy tools cannot be used. These elements must be recreated or converted:
Alerts are the messages that appear on-screen or inline when your supporter leaves a required field blank or makes other errors when submitting a form (e.g. minimum gift amount or email address format).
To create validators, go to Pages > Alerts & validators, then click on Alerts. Click the “Create New” button on each alert type (e.g. Inactive Campaign, Check CVVs or Expire Date).
This opens an Add Alert box. You may change the name of the alert, select the locale (only if using multiple locales), and enter the content that will be displayed to your supporter. Click Save to save each alert.
We recommend that you set up all of the alerts for your default locale before adding alerts for other locales.
NOTE: there are some new alerts for use with the Events Module. You do not need to create these alerts if you do not plan on using the Events Module.
Click here for more information on setting up alerts.
Validators can be applied to individual form fields to allow your supports to supply responses that conform to your data requirements. These validators can then be applied to any field you present to your supporters, on any form.
To create validators, go to Pages > Alerts & validators, then click on Validators. Click on the “New Validator” button. Select a Validator Type and enter a unique Validator Name. Then enter the message that will be displayed to your supporter for any locales you have enabled.
Some validators (Date, Custom, Donation Amount) present an additional tab that must be completed for data format, expression, or amount. Click Save to save each validator.

Templates are the HTML wrapper for your pages. In addition to design and branding elements, templates can also contain references to external style sheets and any HTML code to manage web analytics or other customizations.
Templates you are using with your legacy pages are not available in Page Builder since the data structure is different. You may copy your existing templates from the legacy tools, but there may be some updates needed, particularly if you use background images in your template designs. Start by copying and pasting the header and footer sections from any legacy templates you wish to re-use into an external file. This allows you to complete each template without trying to navigate between the legacy and Page Builder template sections.
To create templates, go to Pages > Components, then click on Templates. Click on the “New Template” button. Enter a unique Template Name. Then paste in the header and footer sections of your template and click Save.
NOTE: The default locale is displayed at the top right of the screen. After you create your template for your default locale, you may edit the template to add different versions for other locales. This allows a single page to be presented in other languages or with another branding.

Web pages are the landing pages that your supporter is navigated to upon certain actions or conditions. For example, when a supporter subscribes to an email list, they are directed to the opt-in web page.
Static pages are now their own page type, so you can create those within the page-builder technology itself.
Web pages you are using with your legacy pages are not available in Page Builder, since the data structure is different.
To create web pages, go to Pages > Components, then click on Manage Web Pages. Click on the “New Web Page” button. Enter a unique Name, select the page type, and select the template to be used. Then enter and style the content for the page in the WYSIWYG editor. When done, click Save.
NOTE: The default locale is displayed at the top right of the screen. After you create your web page for your default locale, you may edit the web page to add different versions for other locales. This allows a single web page to be presented in other languages or with another branding.

Opt-in questions allow your supporters to subscribe and unsubscribe to newsletters or other lists. They can also be used to allow supporters to define their areas of interest.
Since opt-in questions must populate the same fields in a supporter record, we have created a conversion function for legacy opt-in questions that you want to use in page-builder. After the opt-in questions are converted for use in page-builder, they will still function on legacy pages, and will still populate on the supporter record and in the broadcast email tools.
To convert opt-in questions, go to Pages > Components then click on Convert Legacy Opt-Ins. This will list any opt-ins in the old "legacy" system that haven't yet been converted. Click the “Convert” button next to the opt-in questions. Update any of the fields displayed and click Save.
NOTE: The default locale is displayed at the top right of the screen. After you create the opt-in for your default locale, you may add other locales.
