If you're setting up an action targeting the prime minister, you'll need to set up a special campaign action that targets the No. 10 Downing Street webform since there isn't an email address available.
Follow these steps...
- Duplicate an existing target action by clicking on campaigns > duplicate (we recommend that you duplicate a 'template action').
- Go to Campaigns > Manage Campaigns and go to 'admin' page of the new action (use the first icon on the right hand side of campaign's name).
- Select the 'AO single contact: Teresa May' from the 'Target' drop down and submit the page.
- Go to the 'build' page of your new action
- Duplicate and modify each of the following components to create content for your action:
N.B. Make sure you edit and then select the newly created components. Don't overwrite existing components but duplicate using the duplicate icon on the right hand side when you are in the relevant list in 'build'. Once you have created the new component, tick the box by its side and deselect the old one(s). Then submit the page.
- form instruction
- thank you page (or action redirect, depending on the layout you will be using)
- subject
- message
- thank you email.
Please note that there are some restrictons imposed on the content that is being submitted via the No. 10 webform. Please follow the below guidelines to make sure your supporters' messages are submitted successfully:
- make sure the message content is no longer than 900 characters (note: the salutation if enabled will add to the overall character count of the message)
- deselect recipient and sender address blocks in 'build > address blocks' (as they would add to the overall character count)
- enable the message length error alert in 'build> error alerts'
- go to 'Form' and make sure that the following fields are added to the form used by the action: first name,last name, address1, city, postcode, email address on the page
To add the above content to action pages, click the 'design' button at the bottom of the page in 'build' and pull in your content onto relevant pages. You can use this suggested format:
- Page 1: form instruction, form fields, questions, subject, message. If you would like to add some additional copy or a bolded header above the subject or message, create these in the 'letter instruction' or the 'other copy' folder in build.
- Page 2: thank you page (don't add this page if you are using action redirect)
Test the action out using the test icon and when you are ready to publish it, click on the 'make it live' icon in design or change the status (in Campaigns > Manage campaigns) to 'live'
